The Shamrock Irish Pub opened its doors on the 4th of November 2008 for the first time and has been evolving and improving ever since. It is a family run business, owned and managed by myself, Bart Trayers, and my wife Melanie. I was born and reared in county Galway on the west coast of Ireland. I started working in my local pub, The Twelve Pins in Barna when I was 18 and have loved working in Irish pubs ever since.
Before opening the Shamrock I managed other Irish pubs in Germany and Australia for more than 10 years. Mel and I were attracted by the “little big city” atmosphere of Zurich and we felt it was the perfect place to open our own pub and start a family. If you stop by the Shamrock you are likely to meet me as I spend quite a lot of time there.
